Former BJP member and senior counsel Ram Jethmalani has defended Delhi Chief MinisterArvind Kejriwal in the civil defamation case filed against him by Union Finance Minister Arun Jaitley in the DDCA case.
In an exclusive interview with India Today, Jethmalani said he is looking forward to cross examine Arun Jaitley in the case. “This is not personal but bad karma is catching up with Jaitley”, he said.
Jethmalani added that Jaitley had made a huge mistake by suing Kejriwal. Not only him but several AAP leaders, including Ashish Khetan, expressed solidarity with the Delhi CM.
Arun Jaitley on Monday filed a defamation case against Kejriwal and 5 other AAP leaders for false statements against him and his family members. Jaitley had sought Rs 10 crore in damages from the AAP leaders for tarnishing his image.
Apart from Kejriwal, other AAP leaders who have been named in the suit are Kumar Vishwas, Ashutosh, Sanjay Singh, Raghav Chadha and Deepak Bajpayee.
Aam Admi Party on Sunday called for Jaitley’s resignation, alleging that the Union minister is involved in a “huge” scam and called for an impartial probe into the affairs of DDCA after BJP MP and former cricketer Kirti Azad released a 28-minute video, accusing the cricket body of massive financial irregularities, including granting contracts to ghost companies.
Azad, along with former India skipper Bishen Singh Bedi and cricketer Surinder Khanna, claimed that a ‘Wikileaks4India’ investigation has revealed that DDCA awarded contracts to fictitious companies.
