Kejriwal pats his back after one month in govt, Cong MLA disrupts press conference
Delhi chief minister Arvind Kejriwal on Thursday released a “report card” on the performance of his Aam Aadmi Party government after completing one month in power.Kejriwal’s press conference was disrupted briefly when a Congress party MLA from Okhla barged into the room demanding SIT probe into Batla House encounterAsif Mohammad Khan said that AAP had promised inquiry into Batla House encounter and cannot refuse to do so now. He added that the CM is playing politics with the 1984 riots issue. Kejriwal refused to answer his questions and walked out of the press meet.
Kejriwal talked about corruption has drastically reduced in the state adding that sting operations to catch corrupt officials has worked and people say work at government offices now more efficient.”It will be great if an organisation could do a study on whether corruption has reduced in Delhi or not,” said Kejriwal while addressing a press conference.The chief minister said that the jan lokpal bill will be taken up by the cabinet on Friday and will be passed in 10 days by the assembly.He touched upon various issues that his party had promised in its election manifesto and said that his government is working towards fulfilling those.
He talked about the bettering the condition of schools under his government, urged upon the need to harvest rain water by tapping natural resources and said that the problem of water mafia is also being solved by and by.The chief minister reiterated his demand for a Special Investigation Team (SIT) to probe 1984 riots.”The 1984 riots probe will be taken up before cabinet and if approved we will go to the lieutenant governor for clearance,” he said.
Kejriwal had met L-G Najeeb Jung on Wednesday to demand a SIT probe.He also said that an investigation committee has been formed to look into the issue of women’s safety in the state.”Retired home guards and army personnel to form a part of this committee but it is not a parallel police force,” he said.
